Warwoven announced himself as one of the star colts of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival with a brilliant victory in the 2026 Run To The Rose results at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday with the Group 1 Golden Rose now calling for the still untapped colt.
The son of Sword Of State raced second-up in the Group 2 $300,000 Run To The Rose (1200m) improving on his fifth fresh to last year’s Golden Slipper champ Guest House in the San Domenico to take his record up to four wins from seven starts as he prepares for bigger and better races over the coming weeks.
Warwoven, whose last victory came in the autumn’s Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes as a juvenile at the same track and trip, has surged in futures 2026 Golden Rose odds at Ladbrokes from $15 into $8 following his powerful on-speed win at Rosehill.
Sent out at $8, theBjorn Baker-trained colt was electric under Rachel King, stopping the clock in 1:09.49 and holding off the previously undefeated Chris Waller-trained favourite St Gotthard and Under Focus in a high-quality edition of the stallion-making lead-up.
Baker’s stable representative Luke Hilton was full of praise post victory.
“He’s such a good colt,” Hilton told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
“He’s come back bigger and stronger… he found a lovely spot; there was good speed in the race and when he landed just outside the lead I thought he was going to be really hard to beat.”
Hilton confirmed the Group 1 $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) back at the track on September 26 is the primary target for Warwoven this prep.
“We’ve always had an opinion he’s going to get seven furlongs (1400m) and even get to a mile (1600m),” he said.
“The Golden Rose is always the first target and then we’ll go from there.”
King was left stunned by Warwoven’s acceleration, saying, “He leaves you a bit speechless, his acceleration today was unbelievable… he relaxed beautifully, he was so mature for a young, relatively inexperienced colt.”
She highlighted his professionalism and depth, noting, “Every time he’s won, he puts his head in front and thinks his job is done… as soon as he can feel one, he finds again, so there is plenty in the tank.”
King also confirmed he will relish the step to 1400m, declaring, “No problem!”
With four wins from seven starts, a booming turn of foot, and clear improvement still to come, Warwoven’s Run To The Rose triumph marks him as one of the standout three-year-olds of the carnival — and a major player heading toward the Golden Rose Stakes.
Recent winners of the Run To The Rose – Golden Rose double include Bivouac (2019), Astern (2016), Exosphere (2015), Hallowed Crown (2014) and Denman (2009).
Guest House remains the $2.80 Golden Rose favourite at time of publish, while St Gotthard lost few admirers in his brave first-up run in the Run To The Rose sitting on the second line of betting for the upcoming Group 1 at $4.40.
Today’s third placegetter Under Focus is the $8 Golden Rose third elect.
