Chris Waller’s honest five-year-old Danchai has opened short priced favourite to win the BRC Chairman’s Handicap 2014 at Doomben Racecourse in Queensland this weekend.
This year’s $125,000 Group 3 Landfill Logistics Chairman’s Handicap (2000m) features a quality field of 13 staying types, the punters’ pick for which is Authorized gelding Danchai.
Paying $2.50 in the latest Chairman’s Handicap odds the five-year-old grey has drawn ideally with barrier two for the weekend, which will be their third Group 3 start on the trot and just their fourth run down under.
Starting to acclimatise now after coming over from Europe to join Waller’s Sydney stables at the start of the year, Danchai was last seen running second to Spillway in the JRA Plate over this distance at Randwick.
They see a Brisbane track for the first time here, but Waller has a nice record in Brisbane this time of year and Danchai will be looking to add to that here on BTC Cup Day.
Three of their rivals are also under $10 in the markets then with:
The next best in Chairman’s Handicap betting are then early market mover Brave Ali ($10) after their fourth on the trot following a Listed JRA Tails Stakes win at Eagle Farm over 2128m two weeks ago and the Darren Bell-trained Deagon galloper Eight’s A Party ($11) who could both represent good value on the day.
