2015 The Championships Day 2 – Royal Randwick Scratchings

Overnight rain in Sydney has turned out another mud track that now stands as an official Heavy (8) as of 7:45am (AEST) this morning.

That means the mudlarks are out to play and are firming in the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au including the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Criterion in the $4 million Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), the four-year-old boasting a win and a third from his three previous Heavy track starts.

Randwick Track Report – 11/04/2015

  • Track Rating: Heavy (8)
  • Rail: +6m 1600m to Winning Post, +3m Remainder
  • Weather: Overcast
  • Penetrometer: 6.06
  • Rainfall: 11.2mm last 24hrs, 52mm last 7 days

The 2015 Queen Elizabeth Stakes running as Race 9 at 4:35pm (AEST) is the day’s marquee event and has a significant scratching from the field with the former hot favourite Contriubter out.

The John O’Shea-trained Ranvet Stakes winning import was found to be lame in his off foreleg, the announcement made last night, and so comes out of the field leaving a dozen hopefuls.

New favourite at $3.50 is Japanese raider To The World ($3.50) followed by the aforementioned Criterion ($3.80).

There are is a host of other big name scratchings from the Group 1s at Randwick today, which Ladbrokes.com.au are offering Best Tote or SP + 20% markets on.

In Race 6, the 2015 Australian Oaks, three fillies are out with Vinery Stud Stakes winner Fenway, Chris Waller’s Wine Tales and the Gai Waterhouse-trained Adrift all withdrawn.

And in the Sydney Cup 2015 over the two miles, Red Cadeaux has been out for a few days with confirmation he takes them on in the Queen Elizabeth.

See below for the full Randwick race scratchings so you know who is in and who is out across the 10-race program before placing your bets online at Ladbrokes.com.au!
