Classy two-year-old Haptic has stamped his claims as one to watch this afternoon, completing a brave start-to-finish performance for success in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Royal Randwick.

Jumping from the gates well, the Exceed And Excel colt was immediately pushed to the fore of the field of ten; settling into a good rhythm and setting a solid tempo away from the barrier alongside the likes of Giulietta, Furnaces and Street Rapper.

Finding the final straight with a clear racing line, jockey Blake Shinn was a passenger as Haptic continued to strengthen late; kicking well over the final 200m to hit the line a length in the clear of Furnaces, Wolf Cry running on for third.

Haptic debuted to racing for an impressive victory over 1000m at Randwick on January 24^th, in what subsequently figured as a far different performance to this afternoon’s 2015 Lonhro Plate success.

Having jumped from the gates well, Haptic was unlucky to have been checked early and squeezed out of his racing position and was forced to settle off pace.

Finding a good rhythm, the colt out of Troubeaut appeared to be out of calculations when arriving at the final straight with plenty to do, but displayed an exceptional turn of foot to overcome a talented field including the likes of Sebring Sun.

One of several exciting two-year-old contenders currently in work at Godolphin under the guidance of trainer John O’Shea, Haptic is yet to be confirmed for a specific autumn path beyond the 2015 Lonhro Plate, but will likely remain in Sydney and target the major Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), to be run at Rosehill Gardens on March 21^st.
