Rosehill Coolmore Classic Day – 2011 Canterbury Stakes Betting Update

More Joyous

More Joyous is hot favourite to win the Canterbury Stakes 2011

Rosehill Racecourse is host to today’s cracker nine-race Coolmore Classic Day programme, one of the early features at the autumn meeting being the $175,000 Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).

Running as Rosehill Race 4 at 2:10pm (AEDST) this afternoon, the 2011 Myer Canterbury Stakes features a five-horse field lead by odds-on favourite More Joyous.

Gai Waterhouse’s stable frontrunner More Joyous is a top-class mare boasting all the talent and form for this and she is the deserved favourite to win the Canterbury Stakes through Luxbet.

More Joyous is also a steady Canterbury Stakes betting market firmer.

Opening at the top of the 2011 Canterbury Stakes odds at a near unbackable quote of $1.28, the punters have still been keen to take More Joyous.

The triple Group 1 winning mare is seeking her third win on the trot having won both the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) and the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) already this season.

This ideal lead-up combined with the fact More Joyous meets her rivals 2kg better in the weights today and has champion hoop Nash Rawiller in the mount have seen her Canterbury Stakes odds at Luxbet firm into $1.25.

These odds may be short, but More Joyous will win Rosehill Race 4 today and become the Canterbury Stakes winner so back her now at Luxbet – it’s better than bank interest!

Other changes to the 2011 Canterbury Stakes odds at Luxbet are:

  • #1 Rangirangdoo ($8 out to $8.50) – Resuming after a lengthy, injury-enforced 11 month spell. Won the Doncaster Mile at his latest run back in April of last year. Concerns that he won’t be fit enough just yet.

Best Bet – History suggests he can run second so back Rangirangdoo into the Quinella with More Joyous at Luxbet.

  • #3 Empires Choice ($151 into $141) – The only runner to firm in the markets aside from the favourite. Bart Cummings’ Redoute’s Choice seven-year-old is first-up here after a disappointing spring. Has the ‘Bart Factor’ and recent form shows they ran second to Hot Danish in their Randwick Barrier Trial on March 4.

Best Bet – At a triple-figure price why not put a few bucks down at Luxbet. Could be value bet of the day!
