Sacred Eye Leads 2015 Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic Odds

The progressive David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained filly Sacred Eye is early favourite in an open Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic 2015 betting market to win her first Group race this weekend in Melbourne.

Due to jump as Caulfield Cup Day Race 5 at 3:10pm (AEST) on Saturday, this year’s $500,000 Group 3 Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic (2000m) has attracted 13 three-year-olds.

Currently five of those are under double figures in the Caulfield Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, who are offering an Extra 50% on your very first Fixed Odds winner in the opening five races at the meeting, including the Lindsay Park-raced daughter of High Chaparral.

A winner on debut over 1300m back in early September, she comes off back-to-back seconds including her latest run when second to Badawiya in Flemington’s Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) on October 4.

Saturday sees her drop in class but go up to 2000m for the first time when she takes on the boys from barrier nine with Michael Walker retaining the ride on the $4 top fancy.

Following in Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic betting at $5 is the widely-drawn Lizard Island in barrier 11 with Tommy Berry aboard the Group 1 placed Sebring colt.

Prepared at Cranbourne by Pat Hyland, Lizard Island broke his maiden status at Pakenham at start number six on September 23 with a three length romp before being thrown in the deep end with a Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) run last Saturday.

He handled the step up to elite level well and ran a surprising second to runaway winner Press Statement as a 21/1 shot, much juicer odds than on offer for his maiden 2000m win this weekend.

To win 50% more on your very first Fixed Odds winner in Races 1 – 5 at Caulfield on Saturday head to Ladbrokes now!

Two horses then follow at $6 for the win with the rails-drawn Tivaci for jockey Damien Oliver and Ragnaar also drawn a treat in gate three.

Jumping from the inside alley, the Michael Moroney-trained High Chaparral colt Tivaci is yet to finish out of the top two and comings off a second to Ayres Rock in the Listed UCI Stakes (1800m) with Oliver aboard on October 4 in the Flemington run that was the horse’s first in stakes’ company.

Lee & Anthony Freedman trainer the Kiwi expat Ragnaar, a son of Roc De Cambes who was last seen running a disappointing seventh to Sovereign Nation in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) on a too-firm track at Moonee Valley on October 2.

Other hopefuls at more generous odds include the early market mover Ayers Rock ($15) looking for back-to-back wins after success in the UCI Stakes last time out and fellow $15 fancy Etymology prepared by Godolphin’s John O’Shea who ran sixth in the same lead-up.
