Harlem River Returns in 2015 Thoroughbred Club Stakes Field

Gai Waterhouse’s last start black-type winner in Queensland Harlem River is accepted to return and kick off her spring bid in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes 2015 at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday in Melbourne.

The lightly-raced daughter of Fastnet Rock is one of 11 three-year-old fillies making up the field for this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m), the set weights plus penalties sprint running as Caulfield Guineas Day Race 3 at 2:10pm (AEST).

Drawn in barrier seven with Blake Shinn to ride, Harlem River ran two good Listed seconds to kick off her career in the winter before her victory in a Gold Coast black-type for two-year-olds back in June.

She has had two trials leading up to her return for two wins at Randwick and is still also officially nominated for the $350,000 Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) next Wednesday, October 14.

A host of last start winning fillies are in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes line-up this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival including the Mick Price-trained Invincible Heart, in barrier two, who has a solid career record of two wins and two thirds from her four starts to date.

The daughter of I Am Invincible raced only last Saturday at the same track and distance as this weekend shooting for back-to-back wins over 1200m at Caulfield in the space of seven days with Dwayne Dunn replacing Craig Newitt in the saddle.

Price has also accepted for Irada and Secret Agenda, who Newitt rides this weekend, drawn at opposite ends of the field in barriers four and 11 respectively.

Iffraaj filly Irada won at Moe on debut back in late May, but hasn’t since and is first-up on Saturday with Jim Cassidy booked for the ride.

Secret Agenda meanwhile is in top form this time in, the daughter of Not A Single Doubt having won at Sandown-Lakeside over this distance first-up before a second behind Take Pride in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 25.

Other highly rated fillies include the Colin & Cindy Alderson-trained Miss Gidget, Serenade for Michael Moroney and the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Serene Majesty.

Gonski filly Miss Gidget broke her maiden status six runs in at Seymour on September 22 by over two lengths and is Group 1 performed having run ninth behind Pride Of Dubai in the Blue Diamond Stakes back in late February in her last black type assignment.

Serenade is a Glen Boss mount this weekend, the daughter of Star Witness coming off a credible third in the Champagne Stakes while Fastnet Rock filly Serene Majesty’s last start was a Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) sixth in Sydney behind Speak Fondly.
