2014 Bendigo Cup Betting Update

The $250,000 Listed Bendigo Cup (2400m) will run at 4:00pm (AEDT) this afternoon, with nine runners tackling the mile and a half race.

Massiyn, 10th to Fawkner (pictured, inside) in the Caulfield Stakes, has seen a lot of money coming in for him in the Bendigo Cup.

There are four single figure hopefuls in the Bendigo Cup betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au, led by odds-on favourite Order Of The Sun at $2.10.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained horse will have to overcome a wide start from barrier nine with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, but the bookies are tipping him to do it following a three length victory at Royal Randwick on October 11 in the #MoetMoment Handicap (2000m).

He’s already proven he can charge over after starting wide and is well-tipped to do it once more following his fast-finishing win.

There are three other runners offering single figure odds for the 2014 Bendigo Cup – Count Of Limonade ($5), Massiyn ($5.50), and Bring Something ($7).

The Mick Price-trained Count Of Limonade will jump from the middle of the field with Glen Boss to ride, seeing his price fluctuate out from $4.80. The horse enjoyed plenty of success in his home country of Ireland but failed to deliver the same results when he travelled to Australia in April.

He has had five starts since then, finishing out of the placings in all but his last – the Moe Cup (2050m) which he won.

Massiyn is the market mover of the field after his price firmed from $6.50 to $5.50. Money has been coming in for the Robert Hickmott-trained six-year-old who will jump from barrier six with Chad Schofield as hoop.

He made the step up to the highest level of racing earlier in the month for the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m). Although he finished third last, he is the only runner to have run at Group One level, which punters are seeing as a sign of success for the Bendigo Cup 2014.

The Ken Keys-trained Bring Something rounds out the single figure odds, and will enjoy a good start from barrier two with Luke Nolen to ride.

The gelding is a last start winner after winning the Jordans Cereal Bowl (2400m) over the same distance as the Bendigo Cup a fortnight ago.

Can these favourites in the Bendigo Cup betting market bring home victory this afternoon? Or will one of the runners offering lucrative double digit odds steal the win? Back your favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au now!
