Randwick Track Report – 07/03/2020

  • Rail: +3m Entire
  • Penetrometer: 5.86
  • Weather: Overcast
  • Track Type: Turf
  • Track Rating: Soft (7)
  • Irrigation: Nil last 24 hrs; 6mm last 7 days

The forecast in Sydney is for overcast skies and increasing showers across the afternoon meaning the current Soft (7) Randwick track rating looks set to remain.

Randwick racing kicks off at 12:40pm (AEDT) and the top-class card runs through until race nine at 5:40pm (AEDT).

Punters are treated to seven Group status races including a double shot of Group 1 action.

Before the elite levels there is plenty to tune in form with races two and three serving as lead-ups to the Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m).

First-up in race two the colts and geldings face off in the Group 2 $300,000 Todman Stakes (1200m) where three scratchings leave six runners led in betting by the now odds-on Silver Slipper winner Farnan ($1.95 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

It is the fillies’ turn next-up in race three with Cellsabeel (1) and Fall On A Star (4) coming out of the Group 2 $300,000 Reisling Stakes (1200m) where the Team Snowden-trained Dame Giselle ($2.60 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) is the one to beat second-up.

The co-feature on the program is scheduled as race five with all seven original acceptors still in the mix for the Group 1 $500,000 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) featuring Expressway Stakes winning colt Standout ($2.70 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

While not a Group 1 event, the Group 2 $500,000 Challenge Stakes (1000m) threatens to steal the show with a star-studded field of eight sprinters facing off including the rails-drawn favourite Nature Strip ($2.30 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) and dual The Everest winner Redzel ($4.80 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

The meeting’s marquee race is race seven jumping at 4:25pm (AEDT) and there are a dozen remaining three-year-olds in the Group 1 $1 million Randwick Guineas (1600m) following the scratchings of Super Seth (1) and Kubrick (6).

See below for the full Randwick race scratchings and jump times before heading to Ladbrokes.com.au for the top racing odds and offers.
