Saturday’s 2025 Up And Coming Stakes field may be the support act on San Domenico Stakes Day in Sydney but there are a number of talented Golden Rose bound three-year-olds in the event that could prove value in futures betting on the Group 1.

Rosehill is host to two Golden Rose lead-up races this weekend including the Group 3 $250,000 Up And Coming Stakes (1500m) that has an impressive honour roll including subsequent star sires Exceed And Excel (2003), Fastnet Rock (2004) and Snitzel (2005).
This year favourite in the Up And Coming Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au on the small eight-horse field is the untapped Chris Waller trained Sixties ($4.20).
Waller, who won the event for the second time last year with Autumn Glow, saddles up four in the field this year including the top fancy.
Flying Artie colt Sixties broke his maiden status at his third start last time out in a seven-length demolition job when absolutely swimming through a Heavy (9) Kensington track to win over 1150m with 57.5kg on his back.
He doesn’t keep James McDonald for Saturday’s tougher assignment however and will instead be ridden from barrier four in his Black-Type debut by Zac Lloyd.
The jockey swap hasn’t stopped the punters coming for him however, so impressive was he in his runaway lead-up performance.
J-Mac meanwhile partners stablemate Providence ($4.50) first-up from barrier five with the Wootton Bassett colt running as a three-year-old maiden.
Saturday will be his fourth time to the races, but he has already been tested at elite level when running a game fourth to Cool Archie only two lengths away in Brisbane’s Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) over the winter.
Waller’s other Up And Coming Stakes runners this year are Central Coast ($6) and Zoustar colt Fermoy ($14) who is the outside chance in an open market.
Of the Waller contingent, Central Coast is the shortest priced in all-in markets for the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) back at the track on September 27 paying $15.
That is a price sure to be wound right in by the bookies should he salute first-up on the weekend.
The Michael Freedman trained Aerodrome ($7), fifth in the JJ Atkins, will carry the 58kg topweight, while Snitzel gelding Tyreek ($7) is at the same price having just his second start after a winning debut at Canterbury on August 6.
The value in the field and the three-year-old with the fitness edge however shapes up as Peter Snowden‘s in-form son of Written Tycoon Grand Prairie ($6.50).
The progressive colt rides in with some very good form this prep.
He won on the Kensington track to break his maiden status fresh in July and has placed second in his two subsequent runs here at Rosehill.
At his latest the emerging Golden Rose contender was only a half-length off Skyhook in the Listed Rosebud (1100m) on a Heavy (8).
Having run well in that, the 1300m on slightly firmer going doesn’t look out of his reach.
While he goes up in weight, it is only a half-kilo more and he is still in it with 54kg, and Tom Sherry continues associations from barrier two.
The 2025 Up And Coming Stakes is set to run as Rosehill Race 6 at 2:40pm (AEST) on Saturday’s 10-race card in Sydney.
