Jamie Richards’ classy New Zealand-trained mare Entriviere is dominant favourite to keep the wins coming in Sydney this weekend in the 2021 Golden Pendant.

One of the key support acts on the Golden Rose Stakes Day card, this spring’s Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) field is down to nine female gallopers after three early scratchings.
Sitting top of the Golden Pendant odds online through Ladbrokes.com.au is the ultra-consistent Tavistock mare Entriviere from the Matamata stables of star young Kiwi horseman Richards.
The lightly-raced five-year-old has had just eight career starts for six wins and two seconds including finishing runner-up in Randwick’s Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) when narrowly beaten from a wide gate in the autumn.
She resumed at Kembla Grange and was outstanding first-up saluting for the punters in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m), form she looks set to frank this weekend.
Jockey James McDonald retains the ride from the outside alley and the latest markets have her at $2.35 to win second-up.
Two mares occupy the second line of Golden Pendant betting at an equal $6.50 with the rails-drawn Vangelic for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and the John Thompson-trained Fituese drawn well in gate four with Hugh Bowman to ride.
Vangelic gives co-trainer Waterhouse her chance at a fourth Golden Pendant victory following her earlier victories with: Fumble (2005), More Joyous (2012) and most recently Shumookh (2018) in partnership with Bott.
The Vancouver four-year-old was good fresh when fourth only three lengths beaten in the Sheraco Stakes and presents fitter for the run here.
She had a strong three-year-old season thereabouts without winning in plenty of top events including running second in the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) at big odds and gets her chance here.
Fituese meanwhile comes off two excellent lead-up runs having won the Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1100m) first-up over Great News when overcoming barrier 16 of 16 before her second in the Sheraco Stakes that she is out to do one better than in the rematch.
The market mover Nimalee ($10 into $8) and Richard & Michael Freedman-trained top weight Forbidden Love ($8) round out the single figure fancies in the Golden Pendant odds.
Nimalee has Rachael King continuing associations, the So You Think five-year-old boasting a strong Rosehill record (4:2-1-0) and good last time out when fourth to Chat when taking on the boys in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at 20/1.
Forbidden Love meanwhile chases her first victory since her three-length success in February’s Group 1 Surround Stakes.
She is third-up having run fourth in the Toy Show and seventh in the Sheraco, the All Too Hard four-year-old well-suited to the step up in distance for the Golden Pendant.
