2010 C.B. Cox Stakes Final Field & Barrier Draw

The next Group feature race of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival will light up Ascot Racecourse this Saturday, December 18, when the $225,000 Group 2 C.B. Cox Stakes (2100m) takes place.

The 2010 C.B. Cox Stakes final field and barrier draw has been released by Perth Racing with 11 stayers set to face off in the final major lead-up to the highly anticipated $400,000 Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day.

For punters the C.B. Cox Stakes has served as an excellent guide to the Perth Cup in recent years, producing a number of winners including Lords Ransom who took out the Cox Stakes / Perth Cup double in fine style in the 2009-10 season.

One of the early favourites among the C.B. Cox Stakes field this year is Colour Correct coming off a gallant fourth to Playing God in the Kingston Town Classic.

Colour Correct will advantage from the step down in class here and after drawing well with barrier three will start at the top end of the C.B. Cox Stakes betting markets.

The other pick of the field likely to get lots of support from the punters is Impressive Jeuney, Darren Mcauliffe’s classy four-year-old mare the lightweight of the field with 56kg and coming off an impressive second in the Kingston Town Classic.

Stepping up in class on Saturday is the Lou Luciani-trained seven-year-old Guyno, who has come up trumps with barrier one.

Guyno has been in good form this season producing two third place finishes in Listed events, finishing in the money in both the Tattersall’s Cup and the G.A. Towton Cup.

Sydney raider Triple Honour is also set to continue his Perth campaign on Saturday after running in both the Group 1 Railway Stakes and the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot.

Other notable C.B. Cox Stakes entries include the Neville Parnham-trained God Has Spoken, G.A. Towton Cup runner-up Mega Steel, consistent Marooned gelding Big Ted and Michael Grant’s well-bred Street Cry mare Admiring.

Betting markets on the C.B. Cox Stakes are set to open at our preferred online bookmaker Luxbet shortly so get ready to lock in your favourites at the best price in Australia by opening an account with them today!
