The middle-leg of the coveted three-year-old Australian Triple Crown, the Rosehill Guineas is a Group One event that takes place as part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival every year in March. The event is held at the Rosehill Gardens racecourse and is conducted by the Sydney Turf Club (SJC).

The three-year-olds who compete in this race run down a 2000m track under set weight conditions, fighting it out for the $500 000 prizemoney. It is the first race of the carnival run over this distance and is a real staying test for the top class field of competitors the Rosehill Guineas attracts. Some of the nation?s top quality three-year-old champions have claimed victory in the race including Diatribe in 2000, Octagonal in 1996 and Naturalism in 1992. Further back in 1929 Australia?s most famous and loved racehorse, Phar Lap, also won the Rosehill Guineas.

The final leg of the Triple Crown is the AJC Australian Derby, and the Rosehill Guineas is considered the perfect lead-up to this race, with many of the runners continuing their autumn campaigns with a run in this premier three-year-old event. Recent horses to win both races include Eremein in 2005 and Sky Heights in 1999.
