The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival steps up the action this Saturday, March 5, at Royal Randwick Racecourse with a bumper nine race program taking place for Randwick Guineas Day 2016.

It is sunny skies in Sydney today with a top temperature of 28 degrees and zero chance of rain meaning the current Good (3) track rating is set to stay.

Racing kicks off at Randwick this afternoon with black-type action straight-up in the form of the $300,000 Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) for the two-year-old 2016 Golden Slipper-bound fillies at 12:20pm (AEDT), and continues through until the $150,000 Group 3 Wenona Girl Handicap (1200m) at 5:30pm (AEDT).

Two Group 1 features highlight the card starting with a small seven-starter field in Race 5 – the $500,000 Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) where First Seal ($2.80) is the one to beat through Ladbrokes.com.au.

The marquee race at the meeting runs as Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT) with all 13 original acceptances still engaged for the $1 million Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) where Chris Waller’s dual Group 1 winning colt Press Statement dominates betting at an odds-on price of $1.40.
