Nine talent-rich races will be contested on 2015 Emirates Stakes Day at Flemington this afternoon, highlighted by two impressive Group 1 feature races; the Darley Classic (1200m) and Emirates Stakes (1600m).

The Flemington track has experienced plenty of inclement weather and rain through the entire 2015 Melbourne Cup Carnival so far and while skies are current clear over the greater Melbourne metropolitan area, the track remains at a ‘Heavy 8’ rating with soft conditions all over the course.

All the Stakes Day action is set to get underway with the running of the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) for the fresh crop of two-year-olds at 12:20pm local time and with conclude with the Emirates Airline Handicap (1400m) at 5:40pm.

Several talented international raiders will lock horns with some of Australia’s best milers in the Emirates Stakes, including Arod and Magic Artist, while the Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at 5:05pm figures as the day’s final black type race.
