Chris Waller is gearing up for a massive day at Warwick Farm on Saturday with the new season return of a plethora of his stars including Australian Oaks winner Royal Descent who kicks off the spring in the 2013 Toy Show Quality.
The now four-year-old Redoute’s choice mare is one of 10 fillies and mares accepted to face off in the $125,000 Group 3 Kari Aboriginal Resources Inc. Toy Show Quality (1300m) which is set to run as Race 3 at 1:45pm (AEST).
She’s drawn wide with the far outside barrier however so has work to do with, especially as she also heads the weights with 59kg.
Nash Rawiller is engaged for the prized ride on Royal Descent who was last seen posting her fourth win from seven starts in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) in the mud at Randwick on April 20.
Thriving on the Heavy (10) course that day to win by 10 lengths, Royal Descent was ridden by Rawiller in the Oaks and also the start before when she won the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m).
Waller will also be represented in the Toy Show Quality field on Saturday by Hidden Kisses drawn one inside Royal Descent with gate nine and Glyn Schofield in the saddle.
The Hidden Dragon six-year-old is a last start Randwick winner from August 10 which was just their second start for Waller having only recently been transferred to his car from the Queensland stables of Rob Heathcote.
The other last-start winner in the mix is then the David Payne-trained Queen’s Elect (barrier eight) who shoots for their third on the trot having won over 1400m at Randwick and then Rosehill in recent weeks.
Other notable hopes then include Ron Quinton’s returning Crafty Irna and the Gai Waterhouse-trained No Looking Back with the rails one with Tommy Berry aboard.
A daughter of Redoute’s Choice, No Looking Back was runner-up to Samaready in last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes and a black type winner on New Year’s Day at Rosehill.
They have however been out of form since then with their latest start being a below par seventh in the Listed June Stakes (1200m).
There’s a chance for improvement still though after their two nice Randwick trials including a one and three quarter length victory on August 2.
