Settle Strada Wins Beaufine Stakes 2013

David Harrison’s smart four-year-old Settle Strada relished a return to Belmont Park on the weekend continuing their ace association with the WA track with a first-up win in the 2013 Beaufine Stakes.

The Strada gelding won four straight races at Belmont last winter by easy margins before a disappointing summer campaign at Perth’s premier course at Ascot.

After a lengthy spell spanning nearly five months the galloper resumed on Saturday back at their pet track and posted another Belmont win this time in the $80,000 Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m).

Ridden for the first time by Patrick Carbery Settle Strada ($8) got a gun run from their barrier five draw and was able to beat home the Chris Gangemi-trained The Entourage ($26) by one and three quarter lengths.

A further half length away third was then Kristy Casey’s veteran Secret Savings seven-year-old Acorns ($16).

The punters’ pick meanwhile was Kalahaar ($2.40) who crossed four lengths away seventh failing in their resuming run off a four month break.

The official Beaufine Stakes results 2013 are detailed in the table below complete with the margins and starting prices of the 10 horses.
