Alma’s Fury has upset more fancied rivals in a quality field to take out the Group 2 Apollo Stakes for 2013 at Warwick Farm today.

Rain had already been falling during the day and the track was rated a heavy 9 before torrential rain hit as the field made their way to the barriers. With limited visibility for both spectators and jockeys Blake Shinn was able to steer Alma’s Fury to victory from the in-form Tougher Than Ever and the always impressive 9-year-old Danleigh with Willy Jimmy fourth. Alma’s Fury, trained by Paul Murray, paid $25.10 for the win at bookmaker.com.au.

Heavily backed Laser Hawk could only manage 8th and Glencadam Gold finished 10th.

Shootout was a late scratching this morning with the heavy conditions not suiting the Chris Waller trained runner.
