Sizzling Heads 2012 Vo Rogue Plate Nominations

Queensland’s top three-year-old Sizzling heads a strong list of nominations for the Group 3 2012 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) which will take place at Doomben on Saturday.

Twenty one horses have been entered to contest the $150,000 Brisbane feature and for many it is their last chance to force their way up the order of entry for January’s $1 million 2013 Magic Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast.

One horse who is well and truly guaranteed a start at the Gold Coast next month is Sizzling who is a $3.20 favourite at for the three-year-old race.

After performing solidly in two starts at the Melbourne Spring Carnival, Sizzling returned to racing in Queensland on December 15 and blew his rivals away with a stunning finish.

At the 400m mark in the Gold Edition Plate, the son of Snitzel was still worse than midfield before demonstrating an electric turn of foot to cruise past his competition for a 1 1/2 length win.

Another impressive last-start winner nominated for the Vo Rogue Plate is Bruce Hill-trained filly Caliente who backed up the potential shown in the winter with a first-up win over Sookie in the Listed Mode Plate.

Queensland’s leading trainer Robert Heathcote has entered the consistent Heza Jetsetter who has been in terrific form of late.

A son of Jet Spur, the Eagle Farm-based gelding has won three of his last four starts with the other result a runner-up finish that came when he was blocked for a run in the straight.

Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan continued his trend of sending horses north and has nominated Dances On Stars who was last seen winning by 2 1/2 lengths at Rosehill on December 8.

Others included in Vo Rogue Plate nominations are Mackay filly Avaladyluck, Gold Edition Plate placegetters Platinum State and Saluter and the Patinack-owned Reflectance.
