This Saturday February 12 a field of up-and-coming two-year-olds will face off in the $125,000 Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude for Colts & Geldings (1100m) at Caulfield Racecourse and below we provide our exclusive 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) Tips.
A final field of 11 juvenile colts and geldings will take to the Caulfield track in the Blue Diamond Prelude tomorrow when the latest Blue Diamond Stakes lead-up run takes place as Race 4 at 2:35pm (AEDST).
Of the hopefuls Sepoy is the clear favourite, Peter Snowden’s unbeaten colt set to start odds-on tomorrow currently paying $1.60 to win through Luxbet.
Sepoy is also the top pick in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes odds at Luxbet and is out to further stake his claims with his third career win tomorrow.
Both of the Elusive Quality colt’s victories have been impressive.
He won by a length on debut in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial (1000m) at Flemington and then nearly four months later coasted to an eye-catching 3 ½ length victory in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield on January 26.
Sepoy has drawn barrier seven for the Prelude tomorrow and hoop Mark Zahra will be looking to keep the upcoming star on the pace, Sepoy having the versatility to adjust to whatever conditions the race creates as well as come up from the middle to run on speed.
He also drops back in the weights by a kilo from his last start, so to us betting against the favourite is just plain dangerous.
That is why we are sticking with Sepoy and his short odds and fancy the boom two-year-old to keep his unbeaten record intact tomorrow.
With Sepoy at such short odds, we have selected our three other favourites from the B.D. Colts & Geldings field tomorrow to add value to your Caulfield Race 4 betting.
To run second to Sepoy in the winning Blue Diamond Prelude Quinella we are tipping $10 chance Huegill.
A good barrier four draw for Peter Moody’s debutant tomorrow should see the More Than Ready colt make a nice start to their career.
Huegill showed promise with an easy barrier trail win at Cranbourne on January 24.
Another double-figure Prelude hopeful that we are tipping to finish in the money tomorrow is Boys On Tour paying around $12 to win and $3 to place through Luxbet.
The Lee Freedman-trained General Nediym gelding made their highly anticipated race debut on January 29 in the Routley’s Plate (1000m) at Sandown but could only manage to finish fifth to upset winner Delago’s Lad.
Boys On Tour should have improved from the run and drops back a half kilo making them a good pick in the Trifecta.
Second favourite in the Blue Diamond (C&G) odds at Luxbet is Arctic Command at $6.
Although the Cranbourne galloper is a Group winner having won the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day, we think they are actually facing a tougher field here and will find it hard to finish better than fourth.
Arctic Command is a half-brother to last year’s Maribyrnong Plate winner and Prelude runner-up General Truce.
The Blue Diamond Prelude results will have a big impact on the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets at Luxbet so now is the time to get in on the futures markets for the upcoming Group 1 feature.
