2010 Railway Stakes Day

The opening race of the 2010 Festival of Perth Racing is set to light up the Ascot track this Saturday November 20 with a bumper nine-race programme planned for Railway Stakes Day.

The marquee race of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival is the $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m), the richest race held in WA each year.

The 2010 Railway Stakes has attracted a capacity field of runners lead by Colour Correct, the current $4.80 to win through Luxbet after a successful spring campaign that has included back-to-back wins in the Asian Beau Stakes and Ascot Gold Cup.

Other favourites in the Railway Stakes field include defending champion Sniper’s Bullet ($9), Sydney raider Trusting ($6.50) and R.J. Peters Stakes winner God Has Spoken ($10).

Sponsored by Carlton Draught, the Railway Stakes is scheduled as Race 7 at Ascot on Saturday.

Three other black-type races are scheduled for Railway Stakes Day with the $80,000 Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m), the $80,000 Tattersall’s Cup (2100m) and the $80,000 Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) all sure to draw a crowd and plenty of punters.
