1300 Australia Stakes Won by That’s Not It – Cox Plate Day Race 3 Results

The first Group status race on the Cox Plate Day card has been won by the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained colt That’s Not It who claimed victory over a top field of three-year-olds in the $150,000 Group 3 1300 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley this afternoon.

A surprise winner, That’s Not It went out at a very generous price of $20 at Luxbet with the rain early in the morning seeing punters abandon the known dry-tracker.

A wide open betting market on the 1300 Australia Stakes had seven of the nine runners at a price of $5 – $8 to win, with odds-on favourite Dutchy’s Lass getting to the front early to lead.

Another well-backed favourite Shiny And New settled into second while Dutchy’s Lass stayed at the front along the rails.

However the favourites proved to race too hard early and the more conservative ride by That’s Not It’s jockey Chris Symons proved the winning move, the colt settling back early before making his attack on the straight.

After sitting out wider Symons took a risk and drove That’s Not It back to the inside, pulling away after a late charge to hit the line well and claim victory over Happy Trails and Lone Rock.

That’s Not It is a three-year-old to watch over a bit more distance, connections looking to run him in the Group 3 Chatham Stakes over 1400m at Flemington next Saturday.

The next race to get your wagers down for is the $200,000 Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) set to jump at 2:40pm (AEDST) where Firebolt is the clear favourite.

But there are plenty of other value runners so check out the odds at Luxbet now!
