Securing a commendable total of six wins and four minor places from just 15 competitive starts, the Commands mare finishing within two lengths of the world’s leading sprinter Lankan Rupee in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) upon returning to the track this year, and continued to impressive through an autumn campaign which also featured unlucky runs for fourth in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) and strong run for third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster (1200m) most notably. A standout performer from her maiden preparation, the Commands mare won two minors in the early 2012 Spring Racing Carnival before finishing second in the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1500m), third in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes and breaking through for a maiden victory at the highest level of Australian racing in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m). Appearing on track for another impressive preparation through the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, Commanding Jewel took out the most recent edition of the Let’s Elope Stakes before suffering her first setback. Confirmed to be partnered by champion jockey Damien Oliver, Commanding Jewel appears on course for a polished performance in the Let’s Elope Stakes.

Confirmed to line up for her 19^th start this preparation in the 2014 Let’s Elope Stakes, Gig has experienced something of a resurgence of form over recent starts and will be partnered by jockey Craig Newitt this weekend. Finishing mid-pack in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 21^st, the Commands mare returned to Sydney for third in the Listed VRC-CRV Winter Championship Final (1600m) and second in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m), and has since finished third in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) and a credible seventh in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m).
