NSW Premier Has Black Caviar Fever

The extraordinary successes of racing superstar Black Caviar has captured itself another fan, this time in the form of newly appointed New South Wales Premier Barry O’Farrell.

Black Caviar has attracted the interest of the NSW Premier, Barry O'Farrell.

Premier O’Farrell is thrilled that the world’s best racehorse will be gracing Sydney with her presence in the $1 million TJ Smith Stakes this Saturday.

“It’s fantastic that she is here,” the Premier said.

The Premier spoke light-heartedly of the remarkable comparisons between Black Caviar’s favouritism in the TJ Smith Stakes and his favouritism in the NSW state election.

“Parallels have been drawn between me and the election and Black Caviar as unbackable favourites and I’m sure it will be a great day,” Premier O’Farrell said.

While an extensive crowd is predicted at Randwick to mark Black Caviar’s appearance, Premier O’Farrell will be forced to show his support from the office.

“Unfortunately I won’t be there, politicians work harder on weekends than during the week,” he said.

“But I will be at the Doncaster the following week and I’m looking forward to that.”

Black Caviar’s trainer, Peter Moody, has received support for Black Caviar from a number of high profile people who are desperate to jump on the Black Caviar bandwagon.

“As a young bloke growing up you watch the Trevor McKees with Sunline and Lee Freedman with Makybe Diva and you think it would be great to be part of one, and it’s a dream that can happen,” Moody said.

“People who have called me and wanted various things, to be part of TV shows, have no interest in racing but I think public pressure wants it out there.”

Black Caviar will attempt to post her 12th unbeaten victory when she takes to the track this weekend as part of the 150th AJC Australian Derby celebrations.
