Typhoon Tracy

Typhoon Tracy is the clear favourite with punters to win the 2011 CF Orr Stakes

Odds and betting markets on this Saturday’s highlight race, the $400,000 Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m), have been released with defending champion Typhoon Tracy opening as the pronounced favourite.

The 2011 CF Orr Stakes, Race 7 at Caulfield on Saturday, features 16 quality weight-for-age runners lead by Peter Moody’s five time Group 1 winner Typhoon Tracy.

Leading online bookmaker Luxbet have installed Typhoon Tracy as the clear $2.40 favourite to win successive CF Orr Stakes on Saturday, despite the glamour mare drawing poorly with barrier 11.

Typhoon Tracy is one of the 57kg lightweights in the field and should have improved after her first-up run in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) where she finished third as the beaten favourite just under a length away from Whitefriars.

Fellow Peter Moody-trained hopeful Doubtful Jack is the second favourite in the 2011 CF Orr Stakes betting markets at Luxbet, the Not A Single Doubt four-year-old at a quote of $6.50 to upset his more favoured stablemate.

Last start Doubtful Jack claimed a first-up win in the Listed TheTote.Com.Au Stakes (1200m) in Tasmania on January 27 and has fared better in the CF Orr Stakes barrier draw with gate five.

The only other horse in this year’s CF Orr Stakes field at single figure odds is Tony Noonan’s classy Testa Rossa mare Ortensia occupying the third line of betting at $9.50.

Set to start from barrier six on Saturday with Mark Zahra in the mount, Ortensia ran an eye-catching fourth in the Australia Stakes last start before which she was in Sha Tin for the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) where she finished fifth behind JJ The Jet Plane.

Other horses in the market for Saturday include multiple Group placegetter Heart Of Dreams ($12), the Mice Price-trained Galileo four-year-old Spacecraft ($12), consistent stayer Moudre ($15) and John Thompson’s Trusting ($13).

There is some great value to be found in the CF Orr Stakes odds with a number of turf stars at very generous prices.

Lloyd Williams’ evergreen nine-year-old Zipping is paying $41 to win in their first-up assignment since winning an unprecedented fourth straight Sandown Classic (2400m) on November 13.

The Mark Kavanagh-trained Shocking is another roughie in the CF Orr Stakes field, Luxbet paying $51 for the former Melbourne Cup winner to Win and an attractive $13.50 to Place.
