Chairman’s Stakes 2011 Race & Betting Tips

Today the first feature race taking place at Caulfield is Race 3 – the $100,000 Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) jumping at 2:10pm (AEDST) – and here we have the hottest 2011 Chairman’s Stakes Betting Tips.

The 2011 Chairman’s Stakes field currently features 10 promising two-year-olds following the early scratching of #7 Executive Star and #8 Gone Skiing.

Current favourite in the Chairman’s Stakes betting is the Lee Freedman-trained Atomic paying $3 through Luxbet.

Unraced Commands colt Atomic may have a wide barrier nine draw for their debut in the Chairman’s Stakes, but the word trackside is that this two-year-old is one to watch and the punters are getting right behind them.

However there are a number of potential turf stars in this year’s Chairman’s Stakes and we are tipping an upset with one of the roughies of the field, Covered In Class, rated special to win.

2011 Chairman’s Stakes Race Tips – Caulfield Race 3

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Covered In Class – Rated Special to Win at $21 Luxbet
  • Best Place / Exotic Bets: #6 Cape Canaveral, #10 Helping Hand and #1 Dinner Date

The Peter Moody-trained Covered In Class is a well-bred juvenile from top sire Exceed An Excel who is currently paying a very generous $21 to win through Luxbet.

Covered In Class claimed an impressive three length win on debut in a 1000m maiden plate at Mornington back on New Year’s Day after jumping awkwardly.

At their next start just a week later the colt finished over four lengths away from Holdontoyahorses in the Thomas North Plate (1100m) at Caulfield.

We think after a look at the Caulfield track Covered In Class will have improved and they also drop back in the weights to a more favourable 55.5kg today making them the roughie pick of the day.

With our Race 3 tip at such good odds you may be happy just to back the winner.

But for punters that love those exotic horse racing markets, we have selected our three other picks to finish behind Covered In Class in the Chairman’s Stakes.

Cape Canaveral to finish runner-up, Danny O’Brien’s Starcraft colt on debut and likely to be right on the pace from their ideal barrier three draw.

To finish off the winning Trifecta we like the look of the John Thompson-trained filly Helping Hand drawn in gate four and coming off her maiden win where she defeated some tough competition at Flemington on January 15.

Finally, to complete the First Four and really clean up we recommend locking in Dinner Date, David Hayes’ up-and-coming son of Mossman first-up after winning the Listed Merson Cooper at Sandown in November.
