With two wins to his name already this Spring, including back-to-back glory in the $13 million Everest race last weekend at Royal Randwick, it appears the immediate future of two-time Group 1 winner Redzel has been decided.

With a nomination in next Friday’s Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) as well as November 10’s Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m), co-trainer Peter Snowden has made his mind up on the the six-year old’s path.

“I love him so much, he races every three weeks to a month” Snowden told RSN’s Racing Pulse on Saturday morning.

“The way he came through on Saturday, he could’ve made it to the Manikato, but knowing that we really want to run him in the Darley, I thought we’ll wait the four weeks and we’ll trial him probably the Friday before the Manikato, and run him at Flemington.”

Defending titles has become commonplace for Redzel – he’ll now set out to defend his crown after winning last year’s Darley Classic ahead of Terravista, Impending and the recently retired Chautauqua. 

Now with over $15 million in prize money earned following last week’s win in the Everest, Redzel enters as the early $3.50 Darley Classic favourite with Ladbrokes.
