Snowden Sprinters Trial Well at Randwick

Team Snowden are poised for more top-line success during the forthcoming Spring Carnival after talented stable mates Russian Revolution and Redzel both performed well in a Randwick barrier trial this morning.

Russian Revolution and Redzel both jumped from the barriers well in the 1000m hit-out and immediately took up the running; setting a reasonable tempo from the outset for a trialling group also including the likes of Ecuador, Foxplay and Who Shot Thebarman.

The pair were untouched on the speed and continued to slowly spool up upon arriving at the final straight, while the main pack lifted in tempo and began to reel the pair back in.

No horse was stretched too far and a chasing pack including consistent mare Dixie Blossoms and Champagne Colours managed to poke clear of the Snowden pair in the final throws of the trial.

Russian Revolution has been a strong and consistent performer for Team Snowden throughout his entire racing career so far and will resume with a commendable record of five wins from only eight career starts.

Breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) first-up this year, the Snitzel entire finishing sixth in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and was last seen finishing fourth behind Redzel in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m).

Redzel also found career-best form to date in autumn and winter; finishing second in both the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) and The Galaxy, before posting consecutive wins in the Group 3 Hallmark Stakes (1200m) and the Doomben 10,000.

The pair are likely to be set for the feature sprint races during the Spring Carnival and Russian Revolution is currently available at a $13 quote to win The Everest with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Peter Snowden was on hand for the barrier trial and said that Redzel is likely to resume in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley on September 29th.

“It was a good trial,” Snowden said.

“He was a bit fresh in himself but you’d expect that. He’s gained a lot of condition and has come back in stronger.

“He’ll have one more trial which will bring him up to the mark and he’ll be ready to go.”

Group 1 winner Foxplay was settled in the middle of the field in this morning’s trial and was asked for nothing in the final straight; hitting the line last.
