There may be just six final acceptors for Saturday’s 2026 Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill but there’s still plenty of class among the ranks including Aeliana who will jump odds-on favourite to post her first win this prep in the weight-for-age showdown.

One of five Group 1 races on a bumper Golden Slipper Day card in Sydney, this year’s Group 1 $1 million Ranvet Stakes (2000m) looks to be Aeliana’s for the taking if the markets are to go by.
Chris Waller‘s smart four-year-old daughter of Castelvecchio is out to break a notable drought with her last turf triumph being her impressive five-length romp home over the boys in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) as a filly last April.
While she’s winless since, Aeliana has been competitive in plenty of tough races in the interim including her back-to-back seconds this prep leading up to Saturday’s assignment.
She comes via two runner-up placings behind her undefeated stablemate Autumn Glow, who is odds-on to take her flawless record up to 11-from-11 in the Group 1 George Ryder on Slipper Day, with her latest seeing her beaten a nose at Randwick in late February’s Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m).
Third-up and fit now, she faces a smaller line-up of rivals this weekend from gate four and benefits greatly from the booking of hoop-of-the-hour James McDonald.
The step-up in trip should also suit the proven stayer making her tough to deny and deserving of her conservative quote of $1.65 in Ranvet Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au as she looks to hand Waller a third straight trophy in the event following Via Sistina’s back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025.
The danger on the second line of betting at $3.30 is the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Sir Delius.
A five-year-old Frankel entire, Sir Delius remains lightly raced for his age with Saturday marking just his 12th trip to the track.
He’s already a six-time winner to date including completing the Group 1 Underwood Stakes / Turnbull Stakes double in Melbourne over the spring.
Fresh he shook off the cobwebs with an eye-catching run for third in the Verry Elleegant, and with Craig Williams retaining the ride in the Ranvet he shapes-up as a genuine top three hope again.
Completing the hopefuls under $10 in the latest Ranvet Stakes odds at $9.50 is then the Waller-trained Lindermann who races third-up from barrier three with Nash Rawiller sticking with.
The Lonhro six-year-old boasts a strong 50% winning strike-rate at the Rosehill track from his eight previous starts here including a two-length victory in the Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) in the spring.
He is third-up and after atonement now after finishing last of the nine runners in the Verry Elleegant having led the field around before running out of puff.
Fitter now, he’s the expected leader once again but gets his chance to hold for a minor placing.
For value, the Bjorn Baker-trained Group 1 winning mare Stefi Magnetica ($10) is the next best in the markets also third-up with the rails-drawn daughter of All Too Hard after her first win at her sixth start at the Rosehill track.
She heads back up north after finishing four lengths back seventh to Tom Kitten in the All-Star Mile and is being tested over further than a mile for the first time.
Waller’s UK import Trinity College ($18) having just his second start in Australia and rank outsider Alalcance ($67) from the Waterhouse/Bott yard complete the line-up.
The 2026 Ranvet Stakes is scheduled to kick off the Group 1 racing at Rosehill as Race 5 at 2:40pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
