A wide “carpark” draw for Michael Freedman‘s highly-spruiked three-year-old Ninja hasn’t stopped the money coming for the son of Farnan to salute for the punters in Saturday’s Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2026 on the Gold Coast.

Queensland’s premier Magic Millions Day card headlines the weekend’s racing action in the Sunshine State and plenty of eyes will be on Race 8 with a talented field of youngster set to do battle in the lucrative $3 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

Sitting top of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds at $1.85 through Ladbrokes.com.au is Ninja who has work to do from barrier 17 with Tommy Berry sticking aboard the last start Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate champ.

The Vo Rogue Plate – Magic Millions 3YO Guineas double has proven to be a reliable path for elite sophomores, with Pierata (2017-18), Boomsara (2018-19), and Fashion Legend (2022-23) the most recent to achieve the feat.

The sequence nearly included Alligator Blood in 2020, who initially became the third consecutive horse to land the double; however, he was later stripped of the Guineas title following a positive swab for a prohibited substance.

Ninja was enormous putting 4.8 lengths on his closet rival, Smexy, in the 1300m showdown at Eagle Farm on January 3 in the perfect Guineas lead-up.

Yet to run out of the first three in his five career starts, the up-and-comer also boasts an outstanding wet track record and should get conditions to suit this weekend with only the wide alley standing between him and the $1.7 million winner’s cheque.

Despite the big field of 17 at time of publish, just one other three-year-old is currently under $10 for the win with the Ciaron Maher trained filly Icarian Dream at $8.50.

Having drawn far better than the hot favourite with gate four for jockey Jamie Melham, the consistent daughter of Blue Point is chasing her first turf triumph since claiming the 2024 Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes as a two-year-old.

Icarian Dream is out to be the first filly to claim the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas since Abounding in 2024!

Although colts have historically claimed the lion’s share of Magic Millions Guineas titles, fillies have frequently upstaged the boys in the $3 million feature.

Notable recent female victors include Sweet Idea (2014) and Flying Jess (2017), with the Robert Heathcote-trained Abounding (2024) standing as the most recent filly to secure a win in the race.

Icarian Dream was solid in Victoria over the spring including her third to Sheza Alibi in Flemington’s Group 3 The Vanity over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

She also ran third at her latest start when two lengths off Grafterburners on December 20 in Eagle Farm’s Listed Gold Edition Plate.

Maher will also be represented by underrated Bivouac gelding Benevac ($31) in gate three who comes via a fourth in the Gosford Guineas.

Top Queensland horseman Tony Gollan saddles-up the early Magic Millions 3YO Guineas market mover with Spanish Treasure ($19 into $15) up in grade chasing a hat-trick of wins.

Memo ($14) is the other best fancied of the double-figure hopes for trainer Peter Snowden who celebrated back-to-back wins in the event in partnership with his son Paul with Aim (2021) and King Of Sparta (2022).

The country’s top jock – James McDonald – partners the Capitalist filly second-up following her Gosford Guineas third.

The 2026 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas is set to run as the Gold Coast Race 8 at 4:45pm (AEST) on Saturday’s bumper 10-race card.
