Rosehill Gardens is host to five top tier races on Saturday including the short-distance feature of Golden Slipper Day, the Group 1 $1 million The Galaxy (1100m).
Heading the latest The Galaxy racing odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au is talented young Zoustar colt Ozzmosis out to be the first three-year-old winner of the event since Russian Revolution (2017).
A previous Black-Type winner at the Rosehill track, Ozzmosis was last seen scoring an upset in Flemington’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) down the famous ‘Straight Six’ track in the spring.
He has caught the eye in two recent Randwick trials and will resume in Sydney as The Galaxy favourite at a current quote of $4.60 through Ladbrokes.com.au to win with the 53kg and Rachel King aboard.
The danger occupying the second line of The Galaxy betting at $5.50 is the James Cummings-trained Aft Cabin in gate seven with James McDonald riding.
J-Mac rode Chris Waller’s 2019 The Galaxy winner Nature Strip to victory and chases a second trophy on Aft Cabin in the Royal Blue silks on Saturday from a favourable gate eight draw.
The four-year-old son of Astern is after his first win since the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) last April and is second-up after a good third fresh to Passive Aggressive in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m).
Cummings also saddles-up $71 outsider in betting Kallos and Challenge Stakes runner-up Zapateo who pays $34 to become the second The Galaxy winning mare in as many years following on from Mariamia (2023) last year.
A further three sprinters are also under double-figures for the win including Joe Pride’s early market mover Private Eye ($9 into $7.50) carrying the 58kg topweight.
Nash Rawiller partners the dual The Everest place-getter third-up on the back of his runs for second in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lighting (1000m) to Imperatriz at Flemington and sixth when only 1.55 lengths beaten in a blanket finish to the Challenge Stakes.
Private Eye may be carrying the big weight, but he is two-from-two over The Galaxy distance and the class horse in the race.
The rails-drawn Uncommon James ($7.50), last seen finishing third to Imperatriz at The Valley in last October’s Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m), who was runner-up in the race last year and the Annabel Neasham-trained Group 1 winning Invader mare Sunshine In Paris ($8) also fresh are the other best in The Galaxy betting.
The 2024 The Galaxy is set to run as Rosehill Race 9 at 5:20pm (AEDT) with full markets available from Ladbrokes.com.au by clicking here.
