Waller to have multiple runners in 2018 Queensland Oaks

Recently inducted Hall Of Fame trainer Chris Waller is likely to have multiple runners again in the 2018 Group 1 $500,000 Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Waller has eight fillies among the first acceptances for the Queensland Oaks with a large majority of them to take their place in the final field that will be released on Wednesday.

“I will talk with the staff and decide exactly how many runners I will have by Tuesday,” Waller told AAP.

The Premiership winning trainer’s two main contenders, Youngstar and Another Dollar have continued to please the stable after running the quinella in the Group 2 $175,000 Magic Millions The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on May 12 and the stable reported that they worked strongly at the Gold Coast on Saturday morning.

“Youngstar and Another Dollar worked strongly at the Gold Coast on Saturday morning and I was pleased with the report,” Waller said.

Youngstar sits at the top of the Queensland Oaks market order at $2.70 with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Another Dollar at $4.60 while Waller’s other highly rated filly Savacool is on the fourth line of betting at $8.50.

Savacool will have to find her way from Adelaide to the Gold Coast after finishing seventh to Sopressa in the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Oaks (Australasian Oaks) (2000m) at Morphettville on May 5.

Savacool went into the Australasian Oaks as one of the main chances at $5 after winning a 1600m three year old Handicap at Caulfield at her previous start and stuck on okay after racing in a forward spot to finish only two and a half lengths behind the winner.

Waller’s other possible Queensland Oaks runners are Impulsive, Miss Shanti, Saint Katarina, Twilighter and Via Veneto.

Waller has already left his mark on the 2018 Brisbane Winter Carnival and as well as Youngstar and Another Dollar running one, two in The Roses, the master trainer was able to quinella last Saturday’s Group 1 $650,000 Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup (2000m) at Doomben with Comin’ Through and Egg Tart.

Early betting for the 2018 Queensland Oaks at Ladbrokes.com.au: $2.70 Youngstar, $4.60 Another Dollar, $7 Aloisia, $8.50 Savacool, $11 Coral Coast, Sheezdashing, $13 Terra Sancta, $15 Play That Song, $17 Tinkermosa, $21 Highway, $34 Miss Shanti, Twilighter, $51 She’s Reliable, $61 Impulsive, Saint Katarina, $81 Protest, $101 Via Veneto, $251 Delaney’s Desire, She Salutes.
