Quality mare In Her Time is ticking over nicely in the lead up to the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Newcastle trainer Ben Smith has reported that In Her Time has thrived since her last start second to Impending in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 10.
“Touch wood, everything is going fine, and she loves it up here,” Smith told the Newcastle Herald.
“She’s really thrived and she’s enjoying herself. She just keeps getting better and stronger.”
Smith will give In Her Time her last serious workout for the Tattersall’s Tiara on Tuesday morning and then easy work for the remainder of the week.
“It will be just slow work the rest of the week,” Smith said.
In Her Time has been hampered by wide barriers at her last four starts and Smith is hoping for a change of luck at the barrier draw for the Tattersall’s Tiara on Wednesday morning.
“Somewhere around the four to eight mark would be a good barrier for her,” Smith said.
“She hasn’t seen the rail in a long time.”
The four year old mare’s effort to run second in the Stradbroke Handicap from barrier twelve was outstanding which followed a game fifth from gate eleven at her previous start in the Group 1 $700,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1200m) at Doomben a month earlier.
In Her Time also had to overcome double digit barriers at her two previous starts in Sydney which resulted in a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Ranvet Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on February 18 followed by a fifth in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 11.
