Trainer Peter Snowden has included That’s A Good Idea in nominations for races in Brisbane and Sydney this weekend, and has revealed he will likely accept a position in the field for the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens owing to the weather.

That’s A Good Idea began his racing career under the guidance of Mark De Montfort in 2012; passing through the stables of Joe Pride before arriving in the Snowdens’ care prior to the 2014 Spring Carnival; posting a commendable eight wins and eleven minors through a total of 30 career starts.
Returning this time for an impressive third in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) on October 3rd, the Flying Spur gelding has not been seen at the races since placing second to Dothraki in the Listed Lightning (1100m) at Randwick on October 17th.
Referencing his severe dislikes for rain-affected tracks, Snowden told Racing Ahead the downpours expected in Brisbane ahead of the Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday underlines the 2015 Starlight Stakes and Rosehill as the far-better third-up option.
“I had him up there to race a fortnight ago and the track had been good all week,” Snowden said.
“He’s a good dry tracker and then it rained on the day at 11 o’clock so it was a wasted trip. When I looked at the track it was just too wet for him to run on.
“Again it looks like the weather is going to be fine all week then possible showers Friday and possible showers Saturday, so there’s a good chance he’ll probably stay at home at race at Randwick”
Regardless of track integrity, Snowden has been thrilled with the form and ability displayed by the six-year-old this time and believes he is primed for a big performance on Saturday.
“He’s had a really good prep – he’s raced at the highest level and raced very competitively,” he added.
“He’s a horse that really tries in his races and his confidence is right up at the moment which is why I’ll do the right thing and not run him on a track he doesn’t like.
“We’ll look for as good a ground as we can and see where his form is now.”
A standout over the 2014/15 spring for Team Snowden, That’s A Good Idea run second in each of The Lightning, Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) and Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m) most notably.
Returning for a brief winter campaign, That’s A Good Idea won the Listed Ortensia Stakes (1100m) first-up before placing second in the Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m).
The 2015 Starlight Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
