As expected Peter Moody’s unvanquished racing icon Black Caviar has been installed at an odds-on price to secure her 25th career win and 15th Group 1 trophy in the TJ Smith Stakes 2013 betting markets for this Saturday’s Australian Derby Day sprint feature.

Set to steal the show at Randwick Racecourse this weekend, the unparalleled daughter of Bel Sprinter will look to continue the legend that is Black Caviar when she runs against a top field in the $1 million Group 1 Darley TJ Smith Stakes (1200m).
Drawn on the rails in barrier one for the last on the card, Black Caviar has it all in her favour except for the chance of a wet track.
While she has won her two races this time in taking out Melbourne’s Lightning Stakes and William Reid Stakes, Black Caviar can be found at one of the more generous starting prices on her in a while currently paying $1.10 in the TJ Smith Stakes odds with the stiffer competition she’ll face in Sydney all out to beat the queen.
There is then just one other runner under double-figures in the TJ Smith Stakes betting markets with Bel Sprinter paying $9.
Drawn one outside the favourite in barrier two Jason Warren’s five-year-old gelding also shares the same sire as Black Caviar, Bel Sprinter, and also comes off a Group 1 victory having resumed on March 30 at Rosehill to defeat Snitzerland in The Galaxy (1100m).
The others under $30 in the markets at juicy prices are then Joe Pride’s recent Canterbury Stakes fourth placegetter Rain Affair ($21), Black Caviar’s old foe Hay List ($26) who was a distant second after getting run down by the ‘Black Flash’ in this race last autumn, and John O’Shea’s triple Group 1 winner Sea Siren ($26) looking to return to form.
