Nominations have been released for the 2012 The Shorts, which is set to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday September 22, 2012.
Included in the 2012 is Rain Affair, who failed to impress at his first-up start in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes at Warwick Farm racecourse.
Rain Affair placed fourth in the race, which was won by his stable mate Tiger Tees.
The Commands gelding was outright favourite for the race and his defeat shocked trainer Joseph Pride, who had predicted a winning run from the five-year-old.
Rain Affair is out to win his first Group 1 start this spring, after proving himself to be one of the leading gallopers during the autumn racing carnival this year.
He has won multiple Group 2 starts and will look to add another to his race record in the 2012 The Shorts this weekend.
Tiger Tees will also be continuing his spring campaign in the 2012 The Shorts after his unexpected winning performance last start.
The Dubawi gelding has won nine of his 13 race starts and has earned more than $385,000 in prize money during his career.
His Concorde Stakes win last start added to his previous Black Type victories in the Listed Hall Mark Stakes and Group 3 BRC Sprint earlier this year.
Torio’s Quest, Manawanui and Atomic Force are also included in the 2012 The Shorts nominations.
