2011 Fillies Classic Form Guide
#1 Placement (Barrier – 8) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Danny O’Brien
- Jockey – Ben Melham
- Career Stats – 13s 0w 7p
- Last Start – 2nd at Moonee Valley
This filly just has to cross the line first sometime soon. Her career stats don’t do her justice with four second place finished, one by a short nose. If it were a maiden she’d be odds on but in this field it won’t be quite as straight forward. Unsurprisingly she’s a great place bet!
#2 Always Discreet (Barrier – 4) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Michael Hickmott
- Jockey – n/a
- Career Stats – 18s 2w 10p
- Last Start – 2nd at Morphettville
This horse is in tremendous form and with a little bit of luck can definitely win this event. She’s placed second in five of her last six races and the other start was for a win. IN fact she hasn’t had a poor run since June last year. Forget the start to her career, right now she’s a good chance.
#3 Becerra (Barrier – 2) (57kgs) Luxbet
Trainer – Lee Freedman
Jockey – Steven Arnold
Career Stats – 7s 2w 0p
Last Start – 5th at Flemington
Put together two wins in a row towards the end of last year but was out classed first up in a hot Mitty’s Vanity race. The class here won’t be as strong and she needs to at least place to be deserved of her high rating.
#4 Count Your Fingers (Barrier – 3) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – John Thompson
- Jockey – Craig Newitt
- Career Stats – 9s 1w 2p
- Last Start – 3rd at Flemington
After a hard fought third last start in the Mitty’s Vanity the drop in class here will make this filly one of the favourites. Also in her favour is the increase in distance and she has a nice barrier draw. Has no excuses for a poor run.
#5 Bride Salama (Barrier – 1) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Anthony Cummings
- Jockey – Michael Walker
- Career Stats – 9s 1w 3p
- Last Start – 7th at Flemington
Will need a huge lift from the last start 7th of nine in the Mitty’s Vanity. Has previously shown she can hold her own with better quality fillies but if she wants to stick around the major metro races she really needs to prove herself against this field.
#6 Absolutely (Barrier – 6) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Michael Kent
- Jockey – Craig Williams
- Career Stats – 3s 0w 2p
- Last Start – 6th at Flemington
Struggled first up in the Mitty’s Vanity but ran well for two second place finishes at the start of her career. One of those second places came on this track over this distance so she’s certainly well and truly in this race.
#7 Lights Of Heaven (Barrier – 7) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Peter Moody
- Jockey – Luke Nolen
- Career Stats – 2s 2w 0p
- Last Start – 1st at Hillside
This filly is yet to put a foot wrong, unbeaten from two runs. In her last start she was 15th at the 400m before charging home with an incredible burst. Probably can’t afford to give these runners as much of a start but with only eight in the field there’s no reason it won’t be three from three.
#8 Sean Baile Mor (Barrier – 5) (57kgs) Luxbet
- Trainer – Todd Balfour
- Jockey – Dean Holland
- Career Stats – 3s 1w 1p
- Last Start – 3rd at Flemington
Will be first up in this race after a solid start to her career. Placed last start at Flemington at big odds so don’t expect to get quite as much for her in this race. On paper probably looks outclassed but she’s been at big odds in all three races and always been in it.
