Blue Diamond Stakes Day is shaping up as a beauty at Caulfield this Saturday with a cracker nine-race programme packed full of Group racing and here the Races.com.au list the winning numbers for Race 4 on the card, the $180,000 Group 2 The Yalumba 162 (1800m).
The 2011 The Yalumba 162 Autumn Classic has drawn a field of 11 three-year-olds with #1 Almindoro the early favourite to win paying $3.80 at Luxbet.
Coming up trumps with barrier two for Saturday, the Steve Richards-trained Redoute’s Choice gelding is coming off a tidy win over 1519m at Moonee Valley on February 11.
Almindoro will advantage from a two kilo drop back in the weights from their last-start win to their weight for The Yalumba 162 on Saturday and is a Group placegetter.
During the spring they ran a close second beaten just half a length by Retrieve in the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m).
They have also performed well over the 1800m Autumn Classic distance having run second behind Eclair Surprise in the Listed UCI Stakes (1800m) back in October.
That’s why we are sticking with the favourite to win Caulfield Race 4 on Saturday and fancy backing Almindoro through Luxbet for the win.
Blue Diamond Stakes Day Race 4 Tips – 2011 The Yalumba 162 Autumn Classic
- Races.com.au Favourite: #1 Almindoro – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet
- Best Place Bets: #4 Meaisin and #3 Kim Divine
To finish second behind the favourite and adding value to the winning The Yalumba 162 Quinella we like Meaisin paying a juicy $11 to win and $3.50 to place through Luxbet.
The Danny O’Brien-trained Zabeel gelding is a bred stayer and the 1800m distance is ideal.
Most recently Meaisin ran a game second over 1800m at Sandown on February 9 where they carried 59kg.
They drop back to 55.5kg with Glen Boss in the mount on Saturday making them a top pick at their first black-type assignment.
Our other favourite from The Yalumba 162 field to finish in the money is #3 Kim Divine.
Drawn well in barrier three and due to be ridden by champion hoop Corey Brown, the Bart Cummings-trained Kim Divine is coming off back-to-back wins and should be competitive on Saturday.
Luxbet have all the best odds for the nine sensational Caulfield races this Saturday.
