On Saturday at Moonee Valley racecourse, promising grey gelding Linton took home the $200 000 Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (1600m).
Linton, owned by Lloyd Williams, started as the $3.80 favourite and beat home CS Hayes Stakes winner Take The Rap ($14) by 1 ? lengths with second elect the Peter Snowden-trained Offhanded ($3.90) in third.
Stablemate to the brilliant 2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient, Linton has now won two of his three career starts.
The David Hayes-trained Extra Zero drifted to $5 before the race after originally being installed as the second elect, and ran a lacklustre fifth in the Alister Clark.
