Registered this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival as the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes, the $150,000 Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) runs as Caulfield Race 6 at 2:55pm (AEST).

A field of 11 mares are engaged to face off in the set weights plus penalties sprint including the early $3 favourite at the race’s sponsor Ladbrokes.com.au, Secret Agenda.

Drawn in barrier six with Damien Oliver to ride the daughter of Not A Single Doubt makes her four-year-old debut and races for the first time since May 7 when fourth beaten only 1.4 lengths in the Group 2 Eucalse Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide.

Before that she ran second to Two Blue in Randwick’s Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) in April, Saturday her first Melbourne run since a seventh to The Quarterback from March 12 in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) down the Flemington straight.

She has a strong first-up record (4-2-1-0) so flies fresh and also looks well-suited to the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes distance with a win and four seconds from eight runs over the 1200m to date.

Occupying the second line of How Now Stakes betting at $5 is the Lindsay Park-trained Miss Promiscuity, the Magnus six-year-old second-up for the season.

She ran fifth just over two lengths off Redzel first-up at the track in the Group 3 The Heath (1100m) and returns to Caulfield this weekend where she boasts four wins, two seconds and a third from nine runs.

She saluted at the track / distance in mid-April and jumps from barrier eight in the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes with Dwayne Dunn booked for the ride.

The other two mares under double-figures are early market mover Atmospherical ($8) and Vibrant Rouge ($9) drawn at opposite ends of the field in barrier 10 and 1 respectively.

Robert Smerdon trains Northern Meteor six-year-old Atmospherical who is out to improve on her sixth from August 20 in the Listed Norman Carlyon Stakes (1100m) at Moonee Valley, while Vibrant Rouge represents Cranbourne’s Michael Kent.

A veteran eight-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon, Vibrant Rouge comes off a 1400m win at Caulfield from August 27 in an easier-class mares’ handicap carrying just 52kg from barrier 13 of 14.

She gets the inside run from barrier one with Luke Nolen aboard in the How Now, but goes up notably in weight to 57kg.

Other notable hopes include the Allison Sheehan-trained Sharkbite mare Andrassy ($11) coming off a close fourth in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) here in August, Team Hawkes’ Fastnet Rock four-year-old Ameristralia ($10) chasing a third win on the trot and Smerdon’s other runner My Poppette ($10).
