Earlier this month Racing Queensland and the Gold Coast Turf Club took 220 first acceptances for this summer’s edition of the Restricted Listed $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) run as part of the Gold Coast Magic Millions Race Day.

The latest Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas order of entry was updated this week and following the release of the ballot order, it is the progressive Pierata leading all-in betting.

Magic Millions Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have the well-bred colt at $5 to win the mid-January feature after Pierata enjoyed a nearly three length win at Doomben on December 2 in the Winning Rupert Plate (1200m).

Pierata currently sits number 16 on the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas ballot order and looks assured of a run in the 16-starter field.

Heading the ballot is the Toby Edmonds-trained filly Houtzen who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic as a two-year-old in January this year.

The I Am Invincible filly hasn’t won since her Group 3 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1200m) victory on September 29, which she followed with two tough Group 1 assignments.

Seventh to Redzel in Randwick’s $10 million The Everest (1200m) and only three lengths beaten by the subsequent Darley Classic champion, Houtzen was last seen running four lengths back ninth down the Flemington straight on November 4 in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).

Back at the Gold Coast in the summer the right-handed way of racing in the Magic Millions races, Houtzen could return to her best form and sits as a $15 shot in Magic Millions Guineas futures betting.

Following Pierata in the markets meanwhile at $6.50 is Our Crown Mistress for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

The grey daughter of Star Witness is in flying form having won her past four starts on the trot following her narrow second on debut at Bendigo in early September.

Our Crown Mistress hasn’t put a foot wrong since including her Listed win over 1400m at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Waterhouse & Bott have a total of 12 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas nominees including also Snitzel filly Debonairly who won the Ballarat Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1100m) in the wet on November 25 and a daughter of More Than Ready Chain Of Fools who saluted over the mile at Goulburn the day after by over two lengths.

Other standout three-year-olds heading to the Gold Coast on January 13 include Bjorn Baker’s Golden Rose and Flight Stakes runner-up Champagne Cuddles, her stablemate Goodfella, the Chris Waller-trained So You Think colt Calculated and Brisbane-trained Flight Stakes third placed filly Cellargirl for Kelly Schweida.
