Peter Snowden‘s class mare Tashi shrugged off her placegetter status at Eagle Farm on Saturday when storming home for an impressive two-length win in the 2025 Tattersall’s Tiara results to end a long run of seconds.

The five-year-old daughter of Sebring came into the season’s final elite level lining up in Brisbane’s Group 1 $700,000 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) having finished runner-up in her last three runs.
At her latest she was only a half-length of Floozie in the traditional Tiara lead-up, the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1200m), at the same track on June 14.
Today up to 1400m she was able to turn the tables and atone off a lovely Tom Sherry ride with the Irish hoop picking up his first major trophy.
“She’s always had the talent, but today she showed the grit. We’ve been knocking on the door with her all prep, and to see her breakthrough in a Group 1 like this is incredibly satisfying,” Snowden told the media post-win.
“Tom gave her a peach of a ride. He timed it perfectly and gave her every chance. It’s a great result for the whole team.”
It was also Tashi’s first Black-Type win adding further merit to the performance which handed her now 50-time Group 1 winning trainer Snowden his second Tatt’s Tiara trophy following his 2017 success with Tycoon Tara in partnership with son Paul.
The Dane Ripper winner Floozie led the Tiara field around at the top of the straight chasing the double but peaked in her run too early out in front too early eventually being run down to cross fifth.
With 200m left to travel Tashi chimed in in earnest coming strongly into the finish to hit the lead a furlong out from the line and charge for home in a huge late run.
On the line she had 1.94 lengths to spare over the brave, locally trained runner-up Abounding ($19) with the Rich Enuff four-year-old enormous the closing stages for trainer Robert Heathcote.
Rounding out this year’s Tattersall’s Tiara trifecta at any old price for master trainer Chris Waller was then Olentia ($31) who had been forgotten in markets after a 10th in the Dane Ripper.
Bred and raced by Corumbene Stud, the Tattersall’s Tiara winning Tashi has now won five of her 26 starts for career earnings over $1 million.
Following her breakthrough Group 1 win, Tashi is likely to be spelled before targeting the Sydney Spring Carnival, according to Snowden.
The Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill in September looms as a traditional spring kick-off for mares returning from winter campaigns, while the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) back at Rosehill later that month shapes-up as the logical progression in distance and class, especially given her Tiara win over 1400m.
Looking further ahead to Melbourne, Snowden hinted at a potential shot at the Group 1 $1 million Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on VRC Derby Day, Saturday the 1st of November.
“She’s earned a crack at the mile now. If she comes back well, the Empire Rose is a race that suits her profile perfectly,” he said.
