Flemington racing gets underway at 12:20pm (AEDT) and the nine-race card continues through until the last at 5:20pm (AEDT).

Punters are in for a triple shot of Group racing for Black Caviar Lightning Day starting with Race 5 at 2:45pm (AEDT) with the three-year-old fillies facing off in the Group 3 $160,000 The Vanity (1400m).

The 2021 The Vanity field features all nine original final acceptors and the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have the progressive Zou Dancer ($3) as the top elect ahead of Lindsay Park’s resuming VRC Oaks winner Personal ($4.60).

The three-year-old colts and geldings later face off in Race 7 at 4:05pm (AEDT) in the Group 3 $160,000 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m), with Grande Pope and the popular Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Aim both scratched – the latter due to an elevated temperature on Friday.

Updated CS Hayes Stakes 2021 odds online favour a win by the Caulfield Guineas runner-up Aysar ($4.60).

The meeting’s marquee race is next-up with the Group 1 $750,000 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) running as the penultimate event on the program at 4:45pm (AEDT).

A small but class field of eight do battle in the 2021 Black Caviar Lightning, betting for which is led by Godolphin’s returning VRC Classic champ Bivouac ($2.50) and the talented Chris Waller-trained sprint star Nature Strip ($3.70).
