Twenty Included in 2016 Glasshouse Handicap Nominations

A Group 1 winner at the distance, Stratum Star has been included in 2016 Glasshouse Handicap nominations by leading trainer Darren Weir.

Stratum Star kicked up a gear upon returning to racing during the 2015 Autumn Carnival; running third in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), and second in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) most notably.

Returning in spring for third in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m), the Stratum colt savaged the line for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) before placing third in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m).

Returning to winning form in the Group 3 David Jones Cup (2000m), Stratum Star resumed this year for seventh in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) before finishing a close second to Turn Me Loose in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m).

Placing third in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) and sixth in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), Stratum Star failed to fire in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) upon arriving in Brisbane but responded well when third in the Group 2 QTC Cup (1300m) a fortnight ago.

Stratum Star is undoubtedly poised to be the class horse in the Glasshouse Handicap field and will be perfectly suited to the conditions of the race.

Odyssey Moon was unlucky not to be booked onto a flight to Queensland last week, but has subsequently been included in 2016 Glasshouse Handicap nominations.

Resuming this year for fourth in the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes (1200m), Odyssey Moon placed third in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) before running second behind He’s Our Rokkii in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Placing third in the Listed Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington on May 21st, the Snitzel colt has since won each of the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1300m) and Midwest Bellarine Handicap (1100m) last weekend.

Steel Zip is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run a fortnight ago and has been included in 2016 Glasshouse Handicap nominations.

Posting eleven wins and a further nineteen minors through a long and busy 71 start career, Steel Zip displayed his typically-gutsy worth when running on for third in the Listed Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich a fortnight ago.

The 2016 Glasshouse Handicap field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
