Futurity Stakes Betting Update and Preview

A less-than-capacity field of twelve will line up at Caulfield on Saturday for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), however the incredible depth of talent confirmed underlines the race as a particularly interesting one from a betting perspective.

Kiwi raider Turn Me Loose faded late for fourth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago but remains clear favourite in 2016 Futurity Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote of $3 for success.

Turn Me Loose has been a strong and consistent performer for Murray Baker through his 12 career starts since first appearing on course competitively in 2014; posting an impressive six wins and four minors.

Returning to racing in spring for sixth in the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) in New Zealand on August 29th, the Iffraaj gelding made his Australian racing debut for second in the Listed Paris Lane Stakes (1400m) on October 4th before returning to winning form in the Listed Seymour Cup (1600m).

Continuing his impressive run of form through a comfortable win in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m), Turn Me Loose returned to the paddock after delivering a talented field defeat in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) on November 7th.

Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run, Turn Me Loose has received steady support in Futurity Stakes betting markets and firmed to a short as $2.80 before drifting.

Suavito is yet to herald much attention in 2016 Futurity Stakes betting markets but remains sole occupant of the second line at a generous quote of $6 for success after drawing the ideal barrier 3.

Suavito undoubtedly returned to racing during the 2015 edition of the Autumn Carnival in career-best form; charging home to post a maiden win at the highest level in the Futurity Stakes.

Continuing her unbeaten run through the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) a fortnight later, the Thorn Park mare failed to handle to heavy going in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) but still managed a credible seventh.

Unlucky to miss the Spring Carnival through injury, Suavito was given little chance of success in the CF Orr Stakes first-up but kicked clear in the final straight to return for success.

Luke Currie has retained the ride on Suavito who also represents terrific value to place at Futurity Stakes odds of $2.20.

Hucklebuck savaged the line for third in the CF Orr Stakes after jumping from the wide and awkward barrier 18, and arguably offers punters the best value for money in 2016 Futurity Stakes betting markets at a quote of $6.50 to win.

Capping a strong 2014 campaign with success in the Emirates Stakes, Hucklebuck resumed this time for a credible fourth in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) in what was his only other start prior of the Orr Stakes.

Five-time Group 1 winner Boban and Politeness are the only other runners currently available at Futurity Stakes odds of less than $10; both tied on the fourth line at $8.50 quotes.
