Michael Moroney’s former Kiwi galloper Wall Street will wear the No. 1 saddlecloth in the capacity 16-starter Blamey Stakes 2012 field at Flemington as part of the exciting Super Saturday of Racing action on the weekend.

Wall Street will look to return to his former Group winning form in the 2012 Blamey Stakes on Saturday
Running as Flemington Race 4 at 1:55pm on Saturday, the $200,000 Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) features a top-class field of middle-distance horses and staying types including Wall Street.
Drawn in barrier seven with Damien Oliver engaged for the ride, Montjeu seven-year-old Wall Street comes off a first-up sixth to fellow New Zealander King Mufhasa in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and will be looking to better that on Saturday.
Former Emirates Stakes winner Wall Street and Niwot are the 59kg topweights in the Blamey Stakes field this year under the set weights plus penalties conditions, Niwot to get the inside running in the mile showdown from barrier one.
Winner of the Group 3 The Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival before they were far from disgraced when four lengths away eighth in the iconic Melbourne Cup, the Hawkes-trained Galileo gelding Niwot finished one better than Wall Street first-up when fifth in the Futurity.
Two promising stayers will resume racing in the Blamey Stakes on Saturday with Neville Parnham’s CB Cox Stakes winner God Has Spoken in barrier nine and the Lloyd Williams-owned Caulfield Cup runner-up Green Moon drawn nicely in gate two with ace hoop Craig Williams engaged for the ride.
Green Moon will have just the one run this autumn, the imported stayer to be sent back to the paddock after Saturday to prepare for another shot at the major spring cups.
There are also three last-start winners among the Blamey Stakes acceptors the most notable of which are the Colin Scott-trained Speediness and Peter Snowden’s Ad Valorem three-year-old Pied A Terre.
Drawn in barrier four with former Melbourne Cup winning jockey Glen Boss booked for the ride, Testa Rossa four-year-old Speediness shoots for their third win from as many starts this season, their most recent success being over 1410-metres at Flemington on February 18.
Pied A Terre didn’t far quite as well in the Blamey Stakes barrier draw coming up with gate 11 as the gelding seeks their sixth win from seven starts.
The young gun was unbeaten until their second to At The Heads in the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) on January 14, but Pied A Terre bounced back to win the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) next start at Caulfield.
Other widely-drawn runners in the Blamey Stakes field include Grant Williams’ Perth raider Ranger (barrier 16), the David Hayes-trained Extra Zero (barrier 13) and Anthony Freedman’s Caulfield Guineas fourth placegetter Specter (barrier 14).
There are plenty of horses in the race that are worthy of an online bet on once Blamey Stakes odds are released at bookmaker.com.au including the David Payne-trained Centennial Park, former Queenslander Rothera and good Flemington performer Snow Cover.
