The Wingman wins Race 8 at Moonee Valley in the Australian colours
The Wingman, with jockey Peter Mertens wearing the Australian colours, beat home more fancied rivals to take the win by 0.8 of a length from Itimio with Spontaneous taking third.
Race favourite Zizz could only manage 7th in the eleven horse field.
5-year-old gelding The Wingman, trained by Tony Vasil, was jumping in his 20th career start and tonight’s win brings his number of first places to 6.
