There is little to suggest that Winx will not win her fifteenth race on the trot second-up at Royal Randwick on Saturday, but there are still 2017 Chipping Norton Stakes tips to be decided on the placegetters.
Chris Waller’s champion is out to take her Group 1 wins into double-figures with a title defence in the $600,000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) over the mile on the weekend.
No arguments, this Street Cry mare is the country’s best miler and she will relish the distance after an emphatic resuming win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) last start.
The line-up of horses racing for second at best behind the freakish five-year-old is similar to what she destroyed last time out and she has plenty more to give with the Grand Final not taking place until the 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes on April 8.
Winx drew to perfection in barrier four and despite a Hong Kong riding suspension her regular rider Hugh Bowman is aboard to continue the fairy tale on Saturday.
There is no real question as to whether or not to take the short Chipping Norton Stakes odds on Winx.
She is $1.12 and if successful will become the shortest-priced winner since Lonhro ($1.25 in 2003).
The value Chipping Norton Stakes tip is to take Winx at Ladbrokes.com.au with Enhanced Odds of $1.14 (Max Bet $100 / T&Cs apply).
So what will be rounding out the Chipping Norton Stakes trifecta behind the world’s best on the weekend?
#9 Winx ($1.12)
Winx. Will. Win. Make no mistake, this mare is a genuine equine superstar and the only way any of these will get the better of her is for something to go badly amiss with the brilliant beauty of the turf. While many would love to say they beat Winx, can’t see any rival hoping for something to go wrong with her. Load up because it is the Australian thing to do and enjoy watching Winx continue to make history.
#1 Hartnell ($8)
John O’Shea’s galloper is the second best horse in the race and he’ll be second past the post again. Winx has beaten the Godolphin galloper five times from five runs and it’ll be six on Saturday. In O’Shea’s words, “She’s a champion and Hartnell’s just a really good horse.”
#8 Endless Drama ($17)
Think the bookies have it right and are tipping the Chipping Norton Stakes trifecta to shape-up exactly the same as that in the Apollo Stakes. Waller’s Lope De Vega stallion is an imported improver having his third run down under. Third first-up in the Apollo was good considering what he ran behind and the step-up to a mile will suit.
Whether you’re backing Winx or … backing Winx, the right Chipping Norton Stakes 2017 odds can be found online at Ladbrokes.com.au – home of Enhanced Odds on Winx and her rivals this weekend (T&Cs apply / Max Bet $100).
