The Group 1 $2 million Victoria Derby (2500m) is the feature race on Victoria Derby Day, which kicks off the Melbourne Cup Carnival, and the Victoria Derby field features a line-up of the season’s best three-year-old stayers.
The 2025 Victoria Derby field is due for release on Wednesday of race week, three days before the race runs on Saturday, November 1, 2025 – the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup takes place on the first Tuesday of November.

The Victoria Derby 2025 final field is now out featuring a capacity line-up of three-year-old stayers including the Ciaron Maher trained Observer on a quick turnaround after an impressive Moonee Valley Vase victory. He is now the short favourite drawn win in gate four chasing the double last completed by Efficient (2006).
