Action Packed Hawkesbury Meet Witnesses Darley Trifecta

The Darley Crown trifecta has been taken out by three Darley horses in a fitting finish at Hawkesbury’s stand-alone Saturday meeting today.

Kanzan was the first passed the post, while Screen followed behind in second and Dysphonia was third.

The final Darley runner only just missed out on providing her stable with the quadrella, and finished fifth by a half head.

Kanzan showed her ability to handle a rain affected track, and powered to the lead down the home straight to win the Darley Crown by almost one and a half lengths.

Jockey Corey Brown was impressed with Kanzan’s convincing win.

“It was a good effort,” said Brown.

“Today we had the perfect barrier (5) and settled three pairs back.

“We got going a little bit earlier and she was maybe a little bit flat footed but once we hit the straight she lengthened really well and hit the line solidly.”

Kanzan’s trainer, Peter Snowden, was equally happy with his four-year-old mare’s performance.

“I have not quite got her at her best yet but it is a glimpse of what she can do,” said Snowden.

“I have done it before when you go through a carnival and bring them here as a second thought and they do not fire up, but these three fillies and especially Kanzan, I have set them for these races and we got the result today,” he said.

The Listed Hawkesbury Rowley Mile and the Listed Hawkesbury Guineas also took place at Hawkesbury Racecourse today.

The Rowley Mile was won in sensational style by Keepin’ The Dream ahead of Altered Boy and Pureness, while the Hawkesbury Guineas was taken out by Pimpala Secret ahead of Speediness and Steps In Time.
